Summer Reading

Now that its summer, my reading preference switches to good reads that take place on beaches and involve a lovely summer romance. Sarah Dessen is pretty much the queen of this type of book in my opinion, because not only does she deliver a beautiful getaway for the mind, she also has a deep underlying message that is always so beautifully woven in. I like books that i can get in to and look up and i've been reading for 3 hrs. Sometimes i can get so bored out of my mind, but if i have a good book, not so bored. Happy summer reading :)

The Dark Divine by Bree Despain

This book is . . . AMAZING! I was on the edge of my seat, couldn't put it down and it is going in my re-read pile. The story begins with Grace, the pastors daughter being confronted by Daniel, a friend and almost brother who she hasn't seen in 3 years. There is an attraction that she can't deny, but her brother Jude doesn't want them to talk at all. Daniel and Jude used to be bff's, that is until Jude can home covered in his own blood. . . yeah, crazy. This book has touches of the supernatural, with werewolves, but it's not the usually story. I can't say more because I don't want to give it away, but this is a must read for anyone who is craving a bit of romance with a twist of the supernatural.

Darklight by Lesley Livingston

This book is the sequel to "Wondrous Strange". It's the continuation of Kelley Winslow's journey. Sonny is off fighting in the otherworld, trying to kill all the members of the wild hunt. Kelley is back at the theatre, acting in "Romeo and Juliet". When circumstances bring them together again, things get even crazier. This is a wild ride reading this book. The mystery and secrets in this book are crazy and i finished it in 2 days. I loved this book and can't wait for the 3rd to come out!

Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston

This is a book about Kelley Winslow, a struggling actress in NYC. She practically lives at the Avalon Grande, the theatre where she is Titania in "A Midsummer's Night Dream". A chance meeting with Sonny Flannery, a mysterious boy, changes her life forever. Before long she finds herself in the world of the Fae, and learns a secret about herself that will change the course of her life. This is the BEST book about Faeries and fantasy that i have ever read! It is sooooo amazing and beautifully written. Sonny is the sweetest and Kelley is such a strong heroine. This is a must read for anyone who likes a good romance/fantasy/adventure/action.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

This book is about Grace, a girl who is fascinated with the wolves who live in the forest that live behind her house. There is one wolf in particular that attracts her, one with yellow eyes. Sam is her wolf, wolf by winter, human by summer. Different circumstances bring them together for a wonderful story of love and beauty. The story is told in both Sam and Grace's perspective, which i LOVE! This book was soooo incredible fantastically written and i couldn't put it down! This is a must read for anyone who loves a good love story and any fantasy fan.

Bewitching Season by Marissa Doyle

Bewitching season is a sweet book about twins persey and pen leland, twin girls in Victorian England (one of my favorite era's to read about) about to have their first season out in society. This story is mostly Perey's story. Both girls come from a magical background and are trained in secret as witches from their beloved governess Ally. Persey isn't looking forward to her first season at all, and wishes she could stay home with a book and her magic. This book is filled with magic, romamce, and a mystery concerning the future ruler of England, Queen Victoria. With their brother Charles, the twins must fight time to save their governess from her kidnappers, foil a plot against the crown, and keep Persey from making a huge mistake concerning her love life. This book is so good because it has so many elements that draw you in and i absolutely love this time period. This book has a sequel, Betraying Season, which i'm reading right now. I'll review as soon as I'm done!

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

Perfect Chemistry is a book about Brittany, the golden girl who seems to have it all, and Alex, a member of the Mexican gang in Chicago. Both lived in different worlds but are thrust together when they are forced to become chemistry partners. Both can't stand each other at first, but slowly, the walls they built around themselves fall away and they can't deny the attraction between them. But will they be able to be together? This book is GREAT! and a perfect story of how love can beat all odds. There are some really tender moments and you root for Brittany and Alex every step of the way. I've told other friends about this book and all have loved it! Read it, and i promise you'll love it!

Question??????

If you were stuck on a desert island, without a hope of getting rescued for a year, what 5 books would you take with you to pass the time????

Sea Change by Aimee Friedman

This is a book about Miranda, a 16 yr old who is great at science but not so good at putting herself out there. She was planning on spending her summer in New York, but those plans fly out the window when the grandma she never knew dies and leaves her mother her home on Selkie Island, off the shore of Georgia. Miranda finds herself on Selkie Island, Helping her mother sort through her late grandma's things, thrust into a world of parties, boys, and friendships. There is one boy, Leo, who captures her attention and draws her in. He threatens all her beliefs, but she can't help getting closer to him. This book was awesome! Its well written and the setting is totally perfect for a summer of romance and mystery. This is a great beach read, or wish-I-were-at-the-beach read :) Leo was soooo amazing, and I thought Miranda was a really great heroine, partially because I could relate to her quiet shyness. Two thumbs up!!

Dear Jonh by Nicholas Sparks

I recently finished the book Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. Its a story about a man named John who has never been close to his dad and has been a rebel his whole life. He joins the army to grow up and he sure does. On leave he meets Savannah, a girl who changes his whole life. John learns what love means and how it can change your life in ways you could have never imagined. I thought this book was great. It was beautifully written and you could just feel the emotions of Savannah and John as they grew closer. I read this book because i wanted to read it before i saw the movie, which i have yet to see. WARNING*** tear alert is on high, make sure you have some tissues towards the end because it is a tear-jerker. I wasn't sure i felt about the ending, but after some time and thought, i realized that it was the right way if not the best way to end the story. I give it a 7/10. I thought the way Nicholas Sparks talked about love was so real and true and the story so passionate and emotional. Let me know what u think!!!

BookWorm. . .

This is my first time blogging and I'm so excited! Books are my drug, my own special brand of heroin. I read constantly and decided I want to share my love of books with others. I am a total bookworm and want to share my passion with other fanatics of the same sort. I'll review books, give out quotes and anything else that deals with books. Let the blogging begin!!! :)
